There's Something About Bunny That You Should Know ...

Joanna (known as Bunny to her friends!), has over 20 years experience as a professional singer, clocking up hundreds of live performances across the UK and Europe, as well as on television and radio. Based in London, she is also a singer-songwriter, accompanying herself with guitar or ukulele, and composes for both film & television.

Musically, Bunny is largely self taught, learning the basics on her Moms old piano when she was just 5 years old. She progressed on to guitar to accompany her songwriting and singing a few years later. Her vintage obsession also spans way back to her childhood in Loughborough, Leics, where on most Sundays, she would visit the local Great Central Steam Railway with her family, and on most Saturdays, would be found hunting for glorious by-gone goodies and antiques in the local auction houses with her Dad. She has not stopped hunting since, amassing an eclectic array of vintage items, and, now that her Step -Dad, Tim, works at the Great Central Railway (and was one of the founding members!), she is lucky to ride on the old steam trains whenever she goes home to visit.

A few years ago, when she inherited her Grandma Bernice’s exquisite old record collection, she discovered a kindred spirit in her long lost Great Aunt, Yvonne, who told stories from back in the day when, alongside her big sis Bernice, she used to party with the man himself - Glen mIller! Yvonne became great friends with Glens nephew, John Miller and she became an integral part of the show behind John’s Orchestra, touring around the country for many years until recently. Whilst at Twinwood a few years ago, Bunny was lucky enough to finally have a chance to meet her Great Aunt’s good friend and watch the John Miller Band in action!

In 2010, Bunny combined her love for the music and fashion of the by-gone era with her enjoyment of harmony arranging, to form the Scarlet Starlets - a vintage Hollywood inspired close harmony trio. They went on to host residencies at some of London’s finest hotels, & performed at many a glamorous corporate event and wedding across the country, before hanging up their sequin dresses for the last time at the end of 2017.

Now, Bunny is excited to continue her journey as a solo vintage performer, and develop her live band. She hopes to perfect her swing dancing and fulfil her life-long dream of playing with a Big Band soon!
